JVP not assist UNP to grab power -Somawansa

(May 27, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe insists that the party will not allow the UNP, which betrayed the country and the people, to return to power. He stated this addressing the 5th national general assembly of the party held in Colombo this morning. JVP General Secretary Tylvin Silva said it is a responsibility of all party activists to contribute towards the advancement of the party. Meanwhile Parliamentarin Nandana Gunathilaka said yesterday that JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe has become a puppet in the hands of a powerful segment within the party which is fast becoming a crutch to the main Opposition UNP.

"In the issue of ousting Wimal Weerawansa and others, who dissented against this conspiracy, Comrade Amarasinghe was used to the hilt. He, who once led the campaign of rebuilding the party from ruins, came under the pressure of several conspirators and cracked. He let the conspirators take control and is now politically assassinated," Gunatilake said.

Meanwhile the second session of the JVP 5th Convention is still on the way.
