Where Niranjan was when Weerawansa visited Maligawa recently asks Mano Ganesan

(May 22, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Those who find fault with the visit of Eastern province chief minister to Dalada Maligawa surprise the whole nation. They should not forget that JVP too attacked Dalada Maligawa in 1989 prior to the attack of LTTE in year 1998. Going by this logic, I wish to know where former Diyawadana Nilame of Dalada Maligawa Niranjan Wijeratne was when former JVPers led by Wimal Weerawansa visited Dalada Maligawa recently asked Western Peoples Front Leader Mano Ganesan MP in a statement issued today by his office.

Former Diyawadana Nilame of Dalada Maligawa Niranjan Wijeratne and scores of others are criticizing the visit of Mr. Pillayan Chandrakanthan to Dalada Maligawa on the grounds that Mr. Pillayan participated in the LTTE attack on Maligawa. We fail to understand why these critics selectively forget the attack of JVP on the same sacred Maligawa. Tamil and all the right thinking people of this country are getting sick by this double standards practiced when dealing with terrorisms of Tamil and Sinhala kinds. We have hundreds of differences with EP chief minister and his party. We vehemently condemn all the attacks on all the religious places including those of JVP and LTTE on Dalada Maligawa. It is equally absurd to discuss on if a particular personality was personality involved in the attacks. The organizations those carried the attacks matter more than the personalities. Let the Mahanayakes decide if the former attackers need to tender apologies. - Sri Lanka Guardian

Mr. Mano Ganeshan for the first time I have seen a unbiased article from you and I must congratulate you on this.

Former Diyawadane Nilame should know Buddhism better than most of the lay buddhists but his biased discriminatory comments are against the teachings of the Buddha. Buddha has taught us to forgive and show love and kindness to your enemies also and he has done this by example.

In my view there was nothing wrong of this visit and even if Prabhakaran wants to visit the Maligawa we should be Buddhist enough to let him.

It is double standards and I believe it is motivated by politics rather than common sense or Buddhist values.
