Sri Lanka to Give Israel’s Secrets to Iran

(July 28, Moscow, Sri Lanka Guardian) The United States, Israel and India are seriously concerned on proximity between the Iranian and Sri Lanka regimes recently, Cursor agency reported. The Israeli Military Industrial Complex (MIC) cancelled export of military technology and armaments to Sri Lanka in connection with this matter.

Recently, Iran has become a main sponsor of this island country, investing considerable capital in economy and defense of Sri Lanka. Mahinda Rajapaksa, the President of Sri Lanka, does not hide his close relations with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, his Iranian counterpart.

Israel fears that Iran will get information on new Israeli armament and military technologies from Sri Lanka. The thing is that Israel has been one of main suppliers of military technology in Sri Lanka for a long time. Defense deals with this country amounted to hundred millions of US dollars a year. Israel supplied Sri Lanka with Kfir aircrafts, upgraded with new navigational equipment, rocket ships and unmanned aircrafts, system of night vision, complex of artillery fire guidance in the sea and land, Gabriel sea-based missiles and systems of their induction, as well as, 155 kilometer-artillery facilities.

Proximity between Iran and Sri Lanka began in 2004. Since then Iran has become the first assistant of this country and invested about half-billion US dollars in its economy annually. Iran, for example, financed the construction of a new high-capacity power station in Sri Lanka.

Israel officially cancelled a defense delivery to Colombo except spare parts and components to the delivered equipment. However, private companies continue cooperation with Sri Lanka and may continue delivery of the very latest military equipment to this country.
