U.S. Congressman to speak at mass rally commemorating "Black July"

(July 25, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Democratic Congressman Danny Davis from Illinois is scheduled to speak today on the human rights in Sri Lanka at a mass rally in the U.S. capital organized to commemorate the 25th anniversary of "Black July".

Congressman Davis will join representatives from the media watch dog organization Reporters Without Borders to address the rally organized by People for Equality and Relief in Lanka (PEARL) and U.S. Campaign for Burma (USCB).

The rally to be held in the Russell Senate Park, at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Delaware Avenue in Washington D.C. will begin at 12:00 pm. Members of congress and human rights representatives are scheduled to speak at 1:30 pm.

The rally organized by the Tamil Diaspora in the U.S. will hold a vigil to commemorate the 25th anniversary of "Black July", an ethnic uprising brought about after Tamil Tiger terrorists ambushed and killed 13 government soldiers in the northern town of Jaffna launching an ethnic conflict that has killed more than 80,000 people.

The five-term Democratic congressman Davis stirred up controversy by accepting a trip to Sri Lanka in 2005 on behalf of the Tamil minority there. The trip was reportedly paid for by the Tamil Tigers although Davis denied any knowledge of Tigers funding the trip.

It is a shame that a US congressman has fallen prey to the propaganda machinery of the ruthless Tamil Tigers and their money machine - the Tamil diapora. How come we never hear of any US congressmen speak against the many many atrocities and crimes against humanity committed by the deranged Tamil thugs hiding in the jungles of Sri Lanka. More unarmed people including innocent civilians have been killed by Tamil Tiger terrorists, than the number killed on 9-11. Tigers killed 600 policemen and who had surrendered to them. When their mass graves are found you can bet the world will open eyes.
