Real Liberation

Troops liberated Jaffna in 1995!

Troops liberated the East in 2007!!

Troops now liberated entire Mannar district!!!

Troops will liberate Kilinochchi and Vanni soon!!!!

(August 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The slogan of liberation has become a cheap word for the Tamil people in Sri Lanka. Time and again the Tamils have heard drum beating slogans of the government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) that they have liberated this and have liberated that from each other.

Poor innocent civilian population is being roasted by both these monstrous elements and people’s yearning thirst for peace from oppression of both the aggressors is only reaching the deaf years.

When Jaffna was claimed to be liberated and Yappana Pattuna victory celebrations were held by the niece President Chandrika Kumaratunga and her warlord uncle Gen Anurudha Ratwatte in 1995, it was claimed that any remaining Tigers ‘have to jump into the sea and commit suicide’. It is going to be fifteen years of the so-called liberation of Jaffna, but it is remaining a military occupied territory and LTTE is extending its writ by its terror tactics without any difficulties. The civilian population there is caught between two oppressive forces and have lost even the basic human dignity to live as free people in the so called military territory.

Col Karuna leaving the LTTE paved the way for major split in the LTTE and also the territorial divide of north and east. His leaving was rooster for the government which got involved in all sorts of skulduggery and arm twisting approaches to portray a victory in the East for the forces. If not for Karuna’s breakaway, the so-called liberation of the East by the forces would have been a non event. All followed with some semblance of democracy being introduced to the East by holding a Provincial Government election this year. Instead of empowering the people of East, the government is wholly and exclusively exercising its powers through the provincial governor, whilst dangling the carrot in front of the TMVP to give bogus publicity of empowerment of people in the east. The political reality today in the East is a disgusting and down right condemnable cheap political development of a manipulative government which is reluctant to empower the people there.

The government is back again on the spree now to claim that the troops have liberated the entire Mannar district. Whom did it really liberate? It is the real estate of Mannar district or the people there. The people who should be liberated are going through the harrowing experience of encountering unpublicised human sufferings. Deaths and destructions to liberate the real estate has become painful experience for the very same people. Whilst the forces liberated real estates controlled by the LTTE, people are subject to never ending humiliation. Under the shadow of military restrictions, whole scale cleansing is taking place according to sources in the newly liberated real estates.

Forth claim of liberating Killinochi and Vanni is going to be a testing and interesting time and will be like hitting the hornet nest with the catapult.

Once the LTTE wasp is hit, one could expect LTTE stinging all over and real and proven terrorism of the LTTE is expected cause havoc. Just imagine how will the government forces could reach the queen bee Pirabakaran after disturbing the hornet nest. Anyone moving will be attacked by the bees and will be subject to terrible sting attacks. Angered LTTE bees will engage in sniping, ambushing and do all kinds of lethal attacks all over. As for them they want a territory to survive. For this, they will tirelessly fight to move the queen bee to a safe and sacred place.

What is the real meaning of liberation for the people who have lost the basic human dignity to live as people? Instead of attacking the bee nest and causing mayhem, the government is failing to politically empower the minorities for them on their own right to get rid of the LTTE bee nest without hurting anyone.

[Hornet nest safely in the hands of a man] The successive Sri Lankan governments are breading the violent wasps and knowingly getting hurt by their aggressive stand.

Despite all the rhetoric of imminent capture of Vanni, the government intelligence has not pinpointed where the queen bee Pirabakaran is living. Without targeting the queen bee the forces could only disturb the hornet nest and cause mayhem for the people in Sri Lanka.
