War climate and problems faced by children!

- Virakesari Editorial

(August 27, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Children in the north and east are affected as a result of the war, Tsunami, economic crisis etc. children are affected in all ways. As a result, children have dropped out from schools and are awaiting in queues to purchase food items. Some children are going to work with their parents due to poverty.

It can be noted that the country’s war climate has affected not only the normal people but also the children. It is important to take special care regarding the future of these children.

In the back drop of the war, the north east children’s education is severely affected. Children are also affected socially as a result of the war. Particularly due to the war in Vanni, many people including children are displaced and are living without basic facilities.

Furthermore, many children from Killinochchi district are unable to sit the year 5 scholarship examination due to the war. In the background of the war, many children who have lost their parents are in the brink of sufferings. It would be a humanitarian help if the UNICEF and NGOs will come forward to help them.
