Find solution to the problems of the unemployed!

– Virakesari Editorial

(September 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The principal reason why people struggle to cope up with the price hike is the lack of purchasing power. Many are unemployed and there are no avenues for employment.

As a result people don’t have purchasing power and they face economic problems. According to statistics, 4 00 0037 people are unemployed excluding the unemployed in the north. If the unemployed in the north is included, this number can be more.

Farmers and the fishermen in the north are unable to engage in their work due to the prevailing situation and they face an economic tragedy. Furthermore, qualified youths are also unemployed.

North-east had been contributing greatly to the country’s economy. In the north, there was development in fishing and food production and produces of the north were sent to other parts of the country. As a result, food items were available to the people in plenty and prices, too, were under control.

However, unfortunately, due to the prevailing situation in the country, fishing in the north east has been badly affected and farming has been given up. Due to this, the people of the north, who were producing and sending food items to other parts of the country, have to depend on the aid of the government.

When people are unemployed, they are frustrated. Therefore government should take immediate steps to find solution to the problems faced by the unemployed people!
