Moves to justify racial discrimination!

– The Sudar Oli Editorial

(September 05, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Government Defence spokesperson, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has at last accepted that Tamils are differentiated and discriminated in implementing security measures.

Rambukwella has stated that those, who indulge in attacks and kill members of all communities, find shelter among Tamil people and this has made it necessary to differentiate and subject the Tamil people to special security measures.

In fact, he dismisses that it is racial discrimination and maintains that such steps are undertaken for their own security.

It was he who declared recently that there are not only “Tamil Tigers” but also “ Sinhala Tigers”. It cannot be forgotten that the government stated earlier that not only Tamils but also Sinhalese had undergone training by the LTTE.

In fact, it cannot be denied that about 100 Sinhalese have been arrested, branded as “ Sinhala Tigers” and detained. It is no secret that it was revealed to public that arms and explosives were recovered from “Sinhala Tigers”.

On the one hand, they say that Tigers have infiltrated into the Sinhala people, and on the other hand, they try to depict a picture that the ‘Tigers’ who cause attacks are among the Tamil people and thereby justify the discriminatory treatment.

It is crystal clear that Tamil people are discriminated by the Colombo government in every field whether it is fundamental rights or security concerns.

This is reflected in the South that is deep rooted in the Sinhala Buddhist extremism and brands every Tamil fighting for his rights as a terrorist. Minister Rambukwella labours to justify the acts of discrimination against the Tamil people!
