Police and army search for suicide cadres in Yala



(September 16, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Army the police have mounted a search for two LTTE suicide cadres who are reported to have entered the Yala jungles, police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said.

He said that the LTTE cadres are reported to be carrying five claymore mines with them.

He said though they have entered the Yala jungles there would be no restrictions on visitors to the Yala area as they are reported to have entered from the northern side, closer to where seven villagers were kiled.

Meanwhile Chena cultivators in the area have been protesting as the military has placed new restrictions on people entering the area for Chena cultivation.

Earlier in the day a Civil Defense Force member and a civilian were found dead in the Mahaoya police area of Ampara. They were believed to have been shot dead.
