200 SLA killed more than 300 Wounded- LTTE

(November 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Security forces have overrun the LTTE Forward Defence Line (FDL) at Muhamalai and Kilali in Jaffna this morning (20), Sri Lankan Army sources said.

LTTE cadres had constructed an earth bund just ahead of the terror defence line from Nagarkovil to Kilali, both north and south to the A-9, Jaffna-Kandy main road.

Fierce gunbattles erupted since last Saturday, November 15, as troops continued to advanced to dominate the terror earth bund.

Terrorists were unable to defend their defence line because of the continuous military thrust launched by 53 and 55 Divisions,

Sri Lanka Army said that "over 50 LTTE cadres and 10 soldiers were killed and 30 wounded since Saturday during the capturing of 800m long 8km wide LTTE line in Muhamalai".

But sources close with the LTTE said "200 soldiers were killed and over 300 seriously injured in the Vanni-Muhamalai battle fronts over the past couple of days"

Pro-LTTE websites claimed that a large number of injured government troops had been admitted to the Sri Jajewardenepura hospital in the past few days. It cited Colomb-based Defence Watch for its casualty figures.
