Nip it in the bud, India!

[We have become as clueless as Pakistan. I wanted to write much more, but my mind doesn`t work. As I watch on the TV what is happening in Mumbai, I shiver and sweat at the thought of what is waiting to happen tomorrow and where - B. Raman]

(November 27, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) I saw in Sri Lanka Guardian an article hurriedly penned by B. Raman, which he has eneded with the above quote. As I read through it, I thought of penning down my own views briefly as an addendum.

Mr. Raman's apprehensions are well understood by people of Sri Lanka who have been menaced by the LTTE terrorism for 30 years. B. Raman claims that he is so agitated and his mind seems not to work as he is witnessing the carnage and possible implications of the terror attack in Mumbai.

I feel for him in his hour of fear. We all do as people who have long suffered terrorisn in Sri lanka. Terrorism is terrible and it leaves its victims dead and maimed and survivors distraught. The feeling is the same, be it in India, Sri Lanka or any distant corner of the world.

We Sri Lankans of all walks of life have felt that same insecurity feeling ever since Prabakaran started his killing spree virtually 30 years ago. Everyday, the Sri Lankan public had to live with that same fear that Mr. Raman is feeling looking at the chaos in Mumbai, not knowing where or what the LTTE terrorist would target the next minute, next day or the next week to cause mayhem and carnage. As a nation, we had been taken hostage by the brutal organization that Prabakaran created in the guise of a liberation struggle and crippled by the fear psychosis deliberately created by this brutal terrorist and his terror clan LTTE.

Terrorism is terrorism wherever it occurs. We should stand like one to tackle it and India, as the big brother of the region, should act responsibly in this instance. Whether they accept it or not, terrorism is budding up in India and there is no denying the fact. While India should never give in to terrorism as a nation, it aslo cannot afford to tolerate its own people that upheld terrorism under any guises whatever guise it may take the shape of, however small the problem may seem at present. Terrorism is like a cancer, and if ignore, it will gobble you up before you know it had.

We Sri Lankans have tread this path for a long time. We have been walking in the dark without a proper plan or resolve to counter terrorism in our land until recently. And now that we have gathered courage and resolve to tame terrorism in our nation, finally the long victimized poeple of Sri lanka are begining to see the light at the ned of the tunnel.

India too can take a leaf out of Sri Lanka's genuine effort to eradicate terrorism. It should first nip in the bud all efforts to glorify terrorrism in their land, whatever shape it may take.

Here is a clue. Start it with Tamilnadu politicians that tend to carry Prabakaran on their head while kicking National Security of India aside.
