"Govt. spends millions rupees on foreign tours without fulfill the domestic needs of the military"

(December 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Speaking today (4th Dec) at an press conference organized by the Defense Watch parliamentarian Mr. Mangala Samaraweera charged that the Govt. is only obsessed with it’s backstreet politics and does not care about the challenges confronting the military in the battlefield.

Speaking on the subject Mr. Samaraweera charged that it was pitiful to see the people in the south donating consumer goods such a soap, toothpaste to the military which is the rightful responsibility of the government that has allocated over177 billion to the defense expenditure from the budget.

He further complained that the government has been continuously neglecting their responsibility over the Military officials by not providing them with necessary gear to face the onslaught thus disabling thousands of young men of our country, The parliamentarian proving his logic showed a snap of a military person who was critically injured due to not been protected with necessary war material in the battlefield. He continuing charged that these are what the government should look into rather than buying high condition Benz cars to the army commander or wasting 1.5 million Dollars on foreign tours to Rome and Turkey he regretted with great disillusionment.

In conclusion the parliamentarian pointed out that in India ministers and other officials have resigned from their posts with self dignity and respect after the Mumbai mayhem and charged that in Sri Lanka if there is dignity at all the Defense Secretary and the Army commander should rightfully resign from their posts for creating an impasse in the war.
