Sri Lankan Ambassador Presents Tamil Language Children's Books to Tamil Organizations in Switzerland

(January 19, Geneva, Sri Lanka Guardian) Mr. T. B .Maduwegedara , the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Germany and Switzerland, responded to a request made to him by the representatives of Tamil organizations during his last visit to Switzerland by presenting Tamil language children's books to the children of the Diaspora at a special function organized for the occasion at the Vatter Business Centre in Bern on 16 January 2009.

The function was organized by the Sri Lankan Diaspora in Switzerland, which warmly welcomed the Ambassador and thanked him for his notable contribution on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka. Representatives of the Tamil Organizaions present at the function, while thanking the Ambassador and the Government of Sri Lanka, praised the foresight and courage of the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and lauded the Sri Lankan forces for their exemplary conduct in the current campaign against the LTTE.

Members of the Diaspora attending the function raised some questions regarding the present situation in Sri Lanka. The Ambassador responded by clarifying some of those issues and added that the Sri Lankan armed forces will bring the war to an end very soon, paving the way for the Government to create the conditions for the peaceful co-existence of all communities including Muslims, Tamils and Singhalese in Sri Lanka.
