Blasts of lies from Canada Multicultural Radio – CMR

Invents false reports on Wanni with utter impunity

By Siva Sunderam in Toronto

(March 27, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Member of Parliament S Kanagaratnam, unlike his brother Sellakili is a tame and passive man. Sellakili was one of those involved in the Tinnevely blast of July 1983 and on account of him, Kanagaratnam has been visited by the police during that time and even have had third degree treatments. When many people in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts were frightened to be named for public offices, Kanagaratnam who did not have high school education was persuaded to be a TNA parliamentarian.

After being a truck driver for Anna Coffee of Tinnevely he worked as a Ceylon Transport Board bus conductor. Finally he settled down to farm life in Kilinochchi.

The Canadian Multicultural Radio (CMR) whose license to operate has rigid conditions about material they can air, has hardly been honourable in this respect. The CMR is the leading and unashamed media supporter of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam who are now referred to as the Tiger terrorists the world over.

In yesterday’s (March 15 Wedesday) broadcast, the CMR had the audacity to quote the TNA MP Kanagaratnam in their daily morning broadcast of lies. It seems according to him, it is the Sri Lanka Armed Forces that are using Tamil civilians as human shields. Unless there are dense dim-wits preparing and airing the daily news, CMR must be taking for granted that Toronto’s Tamil community will take whatever they broadcast hook, line and sinker.

Perhaps over the years championing the cause of the Tiger terrorists, they have succeeded in making many of their clients believe their cock and bull news reports. No wonder they get people out to demonstrate in support of the Tigers Downtown Toronto.

Another report yesterday said and this was also attributed to Mr Kanagaratnam that the Armed Forces separate the men from the women when they arrive at army check points and take the females away and then all kinds of dreadful noises are heard from behind locked doors.

It is a matter of time for CMR before they broadcast that Sinhala soldiers are cannibals and they have midnight feasts on Tamils. It has conditioned its listeners to such an extent there will be people to believe this story too.

There is no doubt CMR has been operating as a front for the LTTE and most of its reports are chiseled and sculptured to give an anti-Sri Lanka, even worse, anti-Sinhala viewpoint. Time and again it has been pure falsehood. It is strange how a community multicultural radio can function in this manner. This matter must be brought to the relevant authorities immediately.

Evidently, CMR is an active part of the LTTE underworld that has come to operate firmly in Canada.
