Keep Lanka together

By Vijayalakshmi G.

(August 14, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sri lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s reminder to all Lankans that it was time they thought of themelves as Lankans, and not as Sinhalese, Tamils or Muslims, is highly laudable. It should be emulated by every leader of the world, for peace and harmony.

The attempt by christists to form a separate Eelam by ‘supporting’ the LTTE was successfully thwarted by the wonderful Sri Lankan Armed Forces, headed by General Fonseka. Now ethnic parties are grouping to divide Sri Lanka along communal lines.

All patriots of Sri Lanka must staunchly oppose this nefarious design. India should serve as an example to Srilanka and other countries of the world, of what a democracy should not be. The raw deal suffered by the majority Hindus of India, is the result of the divisive, votebank politics of the Congress Party, headed by the first Prime minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru. His warped sense of secularism and the arbitrary minority-majority divide, giving special privileges to the so-called minorities, reduced the 85 perc cent Hindus of Bharat to being second-class citizens in their own land, despite sacrificing a good part of undivided India for the Muslims.

With the funds obtained from India, the Muslims formed an Islamic state of Pakistan, where the non-muslims had no equal rights, and were systematically eliminated- ‘ethnically cleansed’. Sri Lankans should never have to suffer what the Hindus of Bharat are suffering after 60years of independence So all patriots of Sri Lanka should support Mahinda Rajapaksa and General Fonseka in their efforts to keep Sri Lanka together.

There is a lot of truth in what the writer says, although I am afraid it may be tinged with Hindu extremism.
