“Vettri Namathe” : The film of portraying the brotherhood of Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims

(September 25, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Inaugural ceremony of the budget movie “Vettri Namathe” (Victory is ours) was held at Atchchuveli Rasamanikkam Reception Hall on the 14th of September 2009 headed by Douglas Devananda, Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare and Secretary General of Eelam People’s Democratic Party. The film will portray the brotherhood of Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim people, mainly projecting the cultures of Sinhala and Tamil communities.

Tamil/Sinhala dances and songs graced the occasion and was a happy experience to most of the participants that hadn’t taken place for a long period of time in the peninsula. The movie will be directed by Kalamini Achchuveluyur Manikkam Sivamurthy, the story screenplay and music will be by Vijaya Abhayasekara whilst camera will be by Kondavil Pandit Ramesh. Many Tamil Sinhala and South Indian artistes are to contribute to this movie by way of performances.

The movie is woven round a love story between a young man from Jaffna peninsula and a young lady from the Southern part of the country. In addition to Sri Lanka the film will also be shot in Canada and City of London. Diverse cultures, religions and education, agricultural practices in Jaffna and the ongoing development work will also be portrayed in the film. Justice A. Premashankar, Zonal Director of Education in Jaffna, Vethanayagam and Deputy Organizer EPDP Jaffna Peninsula, Charles participated at this ceremony.
