Dear Mahinda : Let me give the straight answers that you evaded

For those who speak Tamil ..(I say..) , now I too speak Tamil. So there is no problem at all.- President Mahinda Rajapaksa
........................................................

(January 25, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sri Lanka’s President was asked several questions pertinent to some serious issues by Lakbhima News newspaper. His answers very evasive and even hurtful that the right thinking people would have assessed his inability to respond to issues in a mature political sense having been in politics for nearly 40 years. Apart from lack of substance in his comments he failed, as he was going all over and there was total disconnect between his mind and mouth . What he uttered was not phrased well and was jumbled. It was discharge like a drunken man. His evasive and unacceptable comments are indicative of the type pervasive, evasive and a dictatorial Presidency that is expected to continue if he is elected again in the re-contest.

Some of the questions and Mahinda’s responses are listed below together with our mature Citizen Silva/ Siva / Sulaiman’’s replies to the questions.

Question: What can you say about the deaths of media persons, crimes which have been unsolved. Mahinda: All are the same. The culprits have not been found. Nobody has found who killed Kadirgarmar. It’s upto the police to investigate. Instructions have been given to expedite the process.
Citizen Silva/Siva/Sulaiman: ThePresident should have said, police service is heavily politicized. Majority of the policemen are not regulars and they do not have the capacity to investigate serious crimes. Unfortunately President’s brother Basil and his Cousin brother Gotabaya’s involvement in the police administration had something to do with the serious failures. He should have said that he realize the police service is not victim friendly and it is on the offenders side. It is mechanism for the President toextent his authority and subjugate the citizens of the country.

The our Human Rights Minister Mahinda Sanarasinge is there to cover up all the sins of the ordinary policeman to the highly paid intelligence official.

Mahinda Rajapakse should have said: ‘There are problems and I will assure all the citizens one of my priority if elected will be to depoliticize the police force and make it an independent body without any political interference’. He could have promised to set up an Independent Police Complaints Commission with mandatory powers to award compensation to victims of police crime.

Question: There are many allegations that too many members of your family are in high government jobs.

Mahinda: Tell me one, tell me one.

Citizen Silva/Siva/Sulaiman: Oh! My God President. Why could not you open your eyes and tell the truth. There is a list of names of your relatives in government jobs. Your brothers, sisters, sons, uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces etc are holding positions and creaming the treasury. To imply you are not aware of this an insult to us citizens. If you had told that ‘I in fact used the family members services because of pure necessity. Now that I have come before you prematurely to extend my term, I wish to say these relatives will not have any place in my new government. I have seriously decided to empower the Citizen Silva/Siva/Sulaiman, instead of my family members when I am elected again as President’.

Question: I won’t know all by name Mahinda: We have relations in Jaffna, we have relations in Akurana — Hameeds and all these people are my relations. So are Nadesans, Sirimannes etc.,

Citizen Silva/Siva/Sulaiman: Mr President is very rattled and gave a scatter brained reply. Instead of going all over, he could have admitted of his relatives holding offices. It was interesting when he said Nadesan’s and Sirimannes are his relatives. If it is true, he could have gone further and pinpointed the connection. We all know LTTE Nadesan’s wife is a Sinhalese. Mahinda’s family seems to practice better assimilation than his arch rival JVP.

Question: You have so many relatives? Mahinda: You tell me the name and I will write the relationship. This is a small country and there are intermarriages, etc.,

Citizen Silva/Siva/Sulaiman: So Mahinda, are we to assume that you are also in some way related to Pirabakaran, KP, Nadesan, Douglas, Col. Karuna, Dr Mervin Silva, Wimal Weerawanse etc, etc. Why not any Muslim brothers or sisters not assimilated into your family?

Question: What is the message you give Tamil speaking people.

Mahinda: For those who speak Tamil ..(I say..) , now I too speak Tamil. So there is no problem at all.

Citizen Silva/Siva/Sulaiman: There is no problem at all? You speak Kochcha Tamil is another problem Tamils are facing in addition to numerous other problems.

Mahinda what has gone wrong with you? If you could not see any problems why did you appoint the APRC to produce a report to arrest the problem. Why did you agree with the paramilitary leader Douglas Devananda that you will implement his ten point program. Are you angry that some Jaffna youngsters hooted and got rid of you from Jaffna when you were there election campaigning.

Mage Amme. Monatha Kiyanne. Demala Jathita prshna mokuth nahah kiyalla kiyanne ekke harimma puthuma comment thamai. You have hurt the Tamil people by your insensitive comments. As a leader, Mahinda must first admit there are problems. Then he must try and deal with the problems. Ignoring and saying ‘there is no problem’ and attempting to speak for those whom he does not represent, seriously loses his credibility.
