Norochcholai power plant to be sold for metal in next ten years

(February 23, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to inside sources in the electricity board, major corrupt deals had taken in regard of the newly constructing Norochollai power plant.The sources added that many metal materials that are used in this project are low quality and Basil Rajapakse himself had been involved in these deals. According to the sources, President's brother had obtained a considerable amount of money as commission from Chinese firms in this deal of purchasing low quality materials for higher price.

"Nobody can complain about this process. Basil Rajapakse is micromanaging the project and he is making a lot fo money from these deals," according to one Sri Lankan engineer who monitors the development in Norochollai.

The coating of some metal structures had already been displaced, the sources added. Another Engineer who spoke to the Sri Lanka Guardian said that it is only a matter of time within next ten years for this power plant to become useless and to be sold for the purpose of metal.
