Frog in the well is not realising Tsunami is on the way

Sri Lanka is in the cross roads. It must soon realize co-habitation, co-existence and co-operation with the international community is the only way forward. Frog croak without looking at the outside world is disaster waiting to happen in a Tsunami scale for Sri Lanka.

(April 17, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian)‘President Mahinda Rajapakse said in an address to officials of his Sri Lanka Freedom Party that this year's May Day rally should be turned into a "show of our strength" against international calls for war crimes investigations’ – AFP April 17, 2011.

The world has seen such scenarios of mass protests and demonstrations of the terrorists and Polpot type regimes in a big scale in the recent past.

World is no longer the same and is moving away from its past of constrained politics, though it is still restricted by the influence of past practices. This is what LTTE’s Pirabakaran could not comprehend. He sanctioned protest marches to orchestrate public outcries from Vanni without realizing world is not concurring with his double standards.

Dr Mahuinda Percy Rajapakse’s perception is no different to that of the LTTE. Since the victory over the LTTE, Jayaweva! Jayaweva!! Jayaweva!!! (victory) is the only theme to glorify for the government. Bottled in an Islet, Mahinda thinks no one can touch him and that he is the crusader of the world.

Even if all the political parties in Sri Lanka join together in his campaign and the Tamil speaking people brought to the street at gun point with the heavy presence of the military, the wider world is not going to be soothed in the ever justifiable claim of accountability issues in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is in the cross roads. It must soon realize co-habitation, co-existence and co-operation with the international community is the only way forward. Frog croak without looking at the outside world is disaster waiting to happen in a Tsunami scale for Sri Lanka.

The President’s brother Gotabaya Rajapakse has said it well about the mindset of the government. He wants to go after India, China, Russia and other friends to support his counter genocidal claim. Where were these friends on the UN resolution on Sudan and Libya- the regimes that lived in cocoons nest without the understanding of the emerging trends in the international politics?

Noriyega went! Sadam went!! and Dr (Lumumba ) Mahinda’s should know the decade of 2010 is not going to be Noriyega’s and Sadam’s type and he has to find ways to play a accountable and accommodative game locally and internationally before it becomes too late to regret.

Latest chapters of the Mahawamsa (praising Mahinda) will not stand in the Courts of International Law. Even Pirabakaran’s LTTE had its Veera Kaviyams. These are for local consumption.
