The hunger strike launched by former provincial councillor Ajith Prasanna opposite the Swiss Embassy in Colombo yesterday (Dec 2) was called off last night.
Prasanna, a retired army major, staged his protest, demanding that the embassy employee should give a statement to police regarding her alleged abduction.
This was after the Swiss Embassy in Colombo, issuing a statement last week said the employee was unable to give a statement due to her "deteriorating health condition".
The hunger strike was called off upon the intervention of parliamentarian Ven Athuraliye Rathana Thero and Rear Admiral (Rtd) Sarath Weerasekara.
