Anglican conspiracy thickens

By Lenin Benedict from Toronto

(January 20, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) Thank you Mr. Hoole for talking “Anglican conspiracy” seriously and responding. I never asked for any PhD. thesis or how you got your PhD. (Editor, please return all the PhD. works as I do not have time to look at them).

First of all I want to make some observations on some of the points you raised. I wrote that letter in my individual capacity as the letter didn’t indicate any organization’s name. As you brought in the high commission in Ottawa I want to raise some questions. Who is rubbing shoulders with Srilankan ministers and officials? Who is visiting the Srilankan high commission officials in London regularly? Who is funding you and your people? How were you appointed as the Vice chancellor of the Jaffna University?

When I said ‘nip in the bud’, I meant neither Lasantha nor Suntharam(the editor of Puthiyapathai who was killed in 1982 in Chithra printing press in Jaffna. Of course, this murder was done with the blessing of your latter-day human rights and media activists’ friends/relatives. These human rights activists wrote a pamphlet justifying the killing as the prize for treachery. Thus, you started the fratricidal killings among the militant Tamils)

Mr.Hoole is asking me why I am living in a foreign country. I wrote about those leaders/people who incited others to violence and fled the country and those people who sent their wives and children abroad and are bringing misery to the children of other poor children by glorifying war. I am only a poor victim of the machination of these leaders.

You are trying to insinuate me as a traitor. Is it not that what the tigers are trying to do to you and your people? When SLDF had its inaugural meeting in Toronto, Eelanadu wrote a lead story and claimed that it was organized with the blessing of the Srilankan High Commissions. When you were appointed as the VC of Jaffna University by the Srilankan president, you were called a traitor and were prevented from taking that position. UTHR people went underground as the tigers called them traitors. You should know how the Tamil leaders called others quislings and incited the youth to kill them. I still remember how the Tamil leaders said that traitors would not die natural deaths. Ordinary Tamils are still paying dearly for these selfish utterances.

When you attended a meeting in Toronto University recently, you left through the back door fearing the tiger goon squad while I was in the front receiving people. Doesn’t it show that Tamils are not allowed any kind of freedom even in foreign countries by the tigers?

I am not afraid of being called a traitor as I was at the receiving end of this for many years.

Let us get focused on the real danger now. When I referred to the Anglican conspiracy, what I meant was certain people/organizations associated with a religion/college (many of them are close relatives) are engaged in activities that are hostile to the interests of the ordinary Tamil people and Srilanka at large. They are using their influence and power with HRW, CPA and other organizations to achieve their sinister motives. I know the past activities of some of these people brought disaster upon the Tamil community not only in Srilanka but also in Diaspora. If you look at the activities of these people, one would find these great minds think alike and write the same stories because they are influenced by one and the same people. I am not engaged in a polemic with Mr. Hoole or anybody else. This is not the time for a polemic. The danger is real and serious. I don’t want to be side tracked by semantics. If Mr.Hoole say that they do not belong to Anglican Church but belong to CSI, let it be as it is. Then let’s call this as CSI conspiracy. If somebody doesn’t prefer that word, let’s call by some other names. I do not want to insist on any word. Even when I referred to Anglican conspiracy, I didn’t mean the entire community. I only meant the elite part of it. I am happy that even some others have noted this dangerous development and written about this in Tamil. We have to expose these anti-people activities in the interests of the people. If anyone knows anything about their activities, please bring to the public attention.

Prof Hoole says:

Prof. Hoole has declined replying to this stating that "Mr. Lenin Benedict's reply is erratic, and there is no need to reply him now that he has withdrawn his original claim that there is a conspiracy by Angicans. Going into the new issues he raises will not be productive the way he drops the claims he makes when challenged and raises new equally wild insinuations."
