Kotelawala remanded over Golden Key fiasco

(February 26, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Powerful businessman Lalith Kotelawala was remanded on Thursday by the Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate in connection with the Golden Key fraud case till March 11.On the issue of Sicile Kotelawala, wife of the Ceylinco Group chairman who has been abroad since the inception of this case, the Magistrate issued a warrant for her arrest on her return.

Ms Padma Nandini. Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of Golden Key and PA to Deputy Chairman Khavan Perera, was also remanded till March 11.

Kotelawala was made a suspect in the case along with Perera and others for financial misappropriation and other charges. The Magistrate Harsha Setunga also ordered the Ceylinco Group to submit a list of assets worth Rs 26 billion in order to settle depositors in the next two weeks.

The Magistrate also rejected the medical certificate submitted on behalf of Mrs Kotelawala.
