EROS: Arrested of “KP” a Major Setback for the LTTE

By: Mala Srikumaran, reporting from Denmark

In a statement released today the Chief Spokesperson of the Eelam Revolutionary Organisation (EROS) Nesan Shankar Raji stated that the arrest of "KP" alias Shanmugan Kumaran Tharmalingam, also known as Kumaran Pathmanathan was a major setback for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

Full statement as follows:

The arrest and detention of "KP" alias one of the main smugglers and importers of weapons and armaments for the LTTE is a major set back for them. “KP” was in charge of the LTTE arms procurement. The Thai authorities had been monitoring his movements for a sometime. His arrest was bound to happen sooner or later, it was just a question of when. We the Eelam Revolutionary Organisation (EROS) have always stressed that the solution to resolve the ethnic crisis and solve the national question on the future of the Tamil speaking people should not be resolved through terrorism but through pro-active positive communication and pragmatic dialogue with the Government of Sri Lanka with the assistance of the Indian government, our neighbour.

Ever since 9/11 and 7/7 etc the world has changed and countries throughout the world are taking issues in relation to terrorism more seriously. The LTTE and its leadership are still living in the dark ages of the '70's, '80's and early '90's and haven't realised that the International community is not going to sit back and allow movements and organisations as such involved in terrorism to continue to cause more death, destruction and havoc to innocent law abiding citizens and thrive. The LTTE have failed to learn from their lessons of the past which is unfortunate. The Sri Lankan Tamil speaking community realises now that the future of the Tamil speaking people (Eelavar’s) cannot resolved using Prabhakaran's EELAM (IV) War strategy alone. International governments who have banned the LTTE as a terrorist organisation are going to continue to clamp down hard on them which will inevitably result in more and more arrests and detentions of senior members of the LTTE who will face a similar fate to what A.C. Shanthan and Golden Lambert are facing in the UK. Only recently A C Shanthan’s No#2 Rupert Soosaipillai alias “Thanam’s” property was raided by the UK’s Anti-Terrorism Branch in Middlesex.

The Eelam Revolutionary Organisation (EROS) will continue to represent EELAVAR's (all Tamil speaking people), help fight for the protection of their human and fundamental rights and work towards helping our people and brethren (fellow Sri Lankans) to live a life free from death and destruction. The LTTE will be brought to its knees sooner or later and the EROS will continue to work for the sake of our people's future.
