Army Mini Camp comes under LTTE attack (Update)

06 sailors dead

(October,15,Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A reliable defence source says an army point at Thalgasmankada, South of Yala, part of East in the Country has come under LTTE attack this evening. The sources said that the attack has started around 6 p.m.

Few LTTE members involved with the attack while heavy rain in the area, he told Sri Lanka Guardian.

Confirmed reports suggest that at least 6 soldiers have been killed in action and another one was wounded. LTTE casualties are unknown as of yet. A vehicle belonging to the wildlife department has also been damaged by LTTE fire.

It's suspected that LTTE cadres who took refuge in jungles after the fall of Thoppigala carried out the attack. Additional troops that were rushed in when the attack began, have now reached the camp premises and have taken complete control of it.

Meanwhile four LTTE members were killed in a confrontation with troops manning the Muhamalai forward defence line in the Kadolana area in Muhamalai around 2.00 p.m. this evening (15), government defence source confirmed.

Troops who observed a movement of a group of LTTE cadres ahead of the FDL confronted them fiercely, the Army said.
