World Human Rights Day 2007 protest held in London by the LTTE

(December, 12, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) A universal event of the United Nations Organisation on Human Rights was celebrated by the LTTE on its own way in front of the House of Parliament on 10 December 2007. The demonstration was held between 1.30pm and 5.00pm.

For the first two hours approximately 40 people were seen holding the placards condemning the Government of Sri Lanka on human rights violations against the Tamil people. The crowed swelled to 120 people by about 4.30pm. The near zero cold weather was taking a toll on the demonstrators and sombre mood prevailed throughout the demonstration.

The demonstration was organised by a previously unknown LTTE front Tamil Community Centre. None of the placards highlighted the human rights violations of the LTTE against its own people. LTTE activist Rajamanoharan presided the demonstration and LTTE front Deepam TV was specially invited to give coverage.

The Metropolitan Police was present throughout the demonstration.
