Minister Devananda meets with the Indian Ministers

(March 10. Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) EPDP Secretary General and Minister Douglas Devananda, who is in India attending the Social Services Ministers Conference met with the Indian National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan in New Delhi.

Mr. Devananda during the detailed discussion with Mr. Narayanan, briefed him of the current situation in Sri Lanka.

After patiently listening to the Minister, Mr. Narayanan expressed his constructive views on the issue. The Indian National Security Advisor said that he expects the devolution of power to the North East People of Sri Lanka, would to come into effect very soon. He also said, after which they would play a greater role towards the Sri Lankan Issue.

It is learnt that useful information was discussed and exchanged between the two.
Meanwhile Minister, Devananda is in New Delhi attending the Global Minority Conference on behalf of Sri Lanka. During his stay in New Delhi he is busy meeting various political leaders and officials and discussing issues regarding the rights of the Tamil speaking people and asking for their contribution to bring Peace in Sri Lanka.

On Friday, he met the Indian Foreign Secretary, Shiv Shankar Menon and had a detailed discussion. Mr. Devananda explained and discussed about the contribution of India towards bringing Peace in Sri Lanka, for the unity among the races, for equality among the races, for the freedom and the rights of the Tamil speaking people of Sri Lanka and the goodwill relationship between the two countries.

Shiv Shankar Menon said that he welcomes the move to implement the 13th amendment, and in future India would contribute more to develop Sri Lanka and to bring about Peace and tranquillity in the Island.
