(March 27, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Nomination paper for the eastern provincial council election will be accepted from today, March 27th, Thursday and the political parties are busy selecting candidates to prepare the list of contenders.
Young voters are more interested in this election and they are engaged in election activities zealously as the election is being held there after a lapse of 20 years.
Each candidate of a independent group has to pay a security deposit of Rs. 2,000/=, said the Batticaloa District Asst. Commissioner of Elections 4 independent groups are to contest in the Batticaloa district have to submit a list of 14 names as candidates and have to pay Rs. 28,000/= as security deposit. In Amparai district 17 candidates and Rs. 34,000/=, and Trincomalee district 13 candidates and Rs. 26,000/= security deposits will be accepted till 12.00 noon on April 02. - Sri Lanka Guardian
