Rajasingam will take AT to the very depths of hell

“Mr Rajasingam must understand that a good journalist will travel anywhere and even amidst great danger to life and limb and that we have somebody like Nilantha Ilangamuwa, a young man and fresh out of the university is a rarity; an unbelievable rarity in Sri Lanka. Mr Ilangamuwa is aware of the terrible dangers he faces but his commitment to the people of Sri Lanka is total. Rajasingam will not have even an iota of it. His latest outbursts prove what a lowly kind of man he is, and that too to take cudgels against a very young journalist on false grounds.”

(March 23, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Before K T Rajasingam makes his next attack on Sri Lanka Guardian or more particularly on the brave young journalist and Sri Lanka’s pride, Nilantha Ilangamuwa or use his agents to do so, let him understand that here is a journalist who is committed to a united Sri Lanka where all the communities can live in peace. Sri Lanka Guardian is a dedication to all the people of Sri Lanka and their genuine voice during these perilous times.

On the other hand, the record of his accuser, that is K T Rajasingam’s, is absolutely revolting and hideous. His journalism stinks like what Beira Lake used to be; don’t know what it is like today. May be it could be akin to Chinnakadai in Jaffna!

Mr Rajasingam must understand that a good journalist will travel anywhere and even amidst great danger to life and limb and that we have somebody like Nilantha Ilangamuwa, a young man and fresh out of the university is a rarity; an unbelievable rarity in Sri Lanka. Mr Ilangamuwa is aware of the terrible dangers he faces but his commitment to the people of Sri Lanka is total. Rajasingam will not have even an iota of it. His latest outbursts prove what a lowly kind of man he is, and that too to take cudgels against a very young journalist on false grounds.

After threatening to take legal action why is he indulging in such lowly attacks? Is he afraid of being exposed in a public forum or has he seen a David in Nilantha Ilangamuwa, if he really thinks he is a bullying Goliath? Rajasingam must understand that his Aliya Pattas will never take him anywhere.

The way he described Mr Ilangamuwa’s recent Indian trip is a fantasy that he has woven himself. Did he really know why Mr Ilangamuwa went to India, what he did there and his real intentions? No. If he has met a number of people during his visit whoever he thought were important to meet in his field of activity, what is wrong? Mr Ilangamuwa is a very friendly person who loves people and very readily appreciates whatever he may have gained in such encounters.

I wonder whether Rajasingam has ever met him. If not like what the boatman told his passenger who could not swim, he has lost a lot. May be Rajasingam would not like meeting journalists like Mr Ilangamuwa because they belong to different classes, the serving and the exploiting.

Already Asian Tribune has earned a name as a gutter media and how far low can it go down? Rajasingam seems great at trying hard to ensure such a plunge. He wants to take it to the very low depths of hell. Do we really need this kind of media in Sri Lanka?

People in Sri Lanka must be very proud that this young journalist has the guts and courage to stand up to the types of K T Rajasingam and cannot be bullied into submission. Mr Ilangamuwa’s journalism despite his swabhasha background reminds us of some our great media personalities of the past like Tarzie Vittachi and Aubrey Collette and may such a tribe resurge in Sri Lanka and save this nation.
