Coward’s tongue: Gaudy gutter gibberish

Puking in venom under cover of anonymity

by Victor Karunairajan

(June 16, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) There is a culture of violence around. Proactive journalists receive a good measure of threats nearly always under cover of anonymity which itself reflects the nastiness that lurks unseen, unknown and unrecognized. Most of them are expressed in “gaudy gutter gibberish,” in other words, colourful language of the sewer in different stages of the stink.

One wonders what kind of satisfaction such an activity gives to those who resort to such forms of communication. Although in a way, this is a good source of feedback to journalists engaged in a cause, most journalists truly welcome open communication and an earnest discussion on issues and problems that affect our community. The author of “Lament to a coward” is one of them and he truly feels sorry for such people especially when they have bad role models or evil people having impacts on them.

Lament to a coward

By Victor Karunairajan

Imposter certainly you are
Cowardice all written over
In what you lowly uttered.

Sorry, I am not adequate
At all to respond in kind
Whatever you did convey
In gaudy gutter gibberish.

I suggest that you desist
Such sordid harassment
It mirrors so disgustingly
On the kind of example
Your role model imparts.

But worse, one day soon
Your own dear mother
Will rue and be contrite
That she did give birth
To such a child like you.

Please accept benignly
I do feel sorry for you.
