Vavuniya blast victims names released


(June 16, Vavuniya, Sri Lanka Guardian) At least 12 police constables including three females were killed and 23 others were injured in a suicide bomb attack in Vavuniya today morning, military spokesman Brigiadier Udaya Nanayakkara said. (Image: A school girl injured in the Vavuniya blast)

The suicide bomber who arrived on a motorcycle exploded himself outside the SSP's (Senior Superintendent of Police ) office in the town. Four civilians including three school children and three women constables were among those injured.

The Police personnel were preparing to leave for duties outside the SSP's office when the bomb went off. The Army released the names of the dead and the injured. According to the civilians were identified as Seuwandi (10), Namli Chndrika (12), G. Dilhani (17) of Thekkawatta, Vavuniya. And Jayasekara (63) of Aluthgama.
