APPGT link to the LTTE front exposed

(July 20, London, Sri Lanka Guardian)In a press release published in the UK website of the LTTE front British Tamil Forum (BTF), it is claimed that the exhibition held at the parliament ‘is one of many events that the British Tamils Forum has organised to mark the twenty fifth anniversary of communal violence that took the lives of more than 3,000 Tamils’ The event took place on 16 July 2008.

The invitation for the event was specifically from the All Party Parliamentary Group for Tamils (APPGT) but exclusively conducted by the British Tamil Forum. Only those supporting the LTTE cause were invited for the event. The event was held in a cloud of secrecy. There was no mention in the APPGT invitation that it was an event of the BTF.

BTF did not allow leading Tamil community activist R Jayadevan from viewing the exhibition when he had the permission from the Chairman of the APPGT Mr Virendra Sharma MP to attend. It is now learnt that BTA permitted the official of the Sri Lankan High Commission to view the exhibition.

When the Chairman of the APPGT was contacted on Friday 18 July 2008 in the parliament for his comment there was no one to answer his phone.
