Dayan To Represent Asia On Human Rights At UN


(July 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Dr.Dayan Jayatilleka, Sri Lanka's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, has been nominated as a member of the Consultative Group of the United Nations Human Rights Council, representing Asia.

The Consultative Group facilitates the Human Rights Council's work on the selection of the Special Procedures mandate holders. The nomination of Dr Jayatilleka as the candidate of the Asian Group was communicated to H.E. Dr Martin I. Uhomoibhi, the President of the Human Rights Council, by China, the coordinator of the Asian Group. Dr. Jayatilleka will serve in his personal capacity.
