Sri Lankan Court releases TN school boys

(August 08, Mannar, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Sri Lankan Mannar Court on Thursday released two school boys from Rameswaram, Selvan Joseph Bath and Selvan Ignatius, who were picked up by the Sri Lankan navy near Kachchativu last month.

The brothers had gone along with three elders for fishing. The three fishermen have not been released yet. The boys’ parents had made fervent pleas to the Tamil Nadu governor and the chief minister to intervene in the matter and get the boys released.

Eleven associations of the Rameswaram fishing community sent appeals to Manitham, a human rights group to intervene for safe return of the boys.
