Two Tamil Families with an Infant and Seven Youth flee LTTE Terror



(September 16, Mannar, Sri Lanka Guardian) Being unable to bear up the lack of basic needs and dejected by the insensitivity of the bloodstained LTTE, twelve Tamil persons consisting of two families and six individuals sought the protection of the Navy in the seas off Thalaimannar on the 15th September around 1245 hrs.

The two families including one infant aged 03 and the six individuals in the prime of their youth had fled from Mallavi, Yogapuram in the Kilinochchi district, in a fibre glass dinghy (FGD) fitted with 15 horse power out board motor (OBM).

One family comprised of four members, a father aged 36, a mother aged 26, and two daughters who were just 03 and 10 years of age. There were two youth aged 17 and 24 who belonged to the same family. The rest of the group seeking refuge were in the age range of 17 to 29.

During the preliminary investigation, the youth had revealed that they were living in constant fear of being abducted and conscripted by the terror outfit which is smarting under the continuous defeats from all fronts at the hands of the advancing Security Forces in their humanitarian operation to liberate Northern Sri Lanka from the terror grip.
