"Govt. still searching for the enemy planes"

(October 29, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Dayasiri Jayasekera , UNP Parliamentarian addressing the media today (29 Oct) , asked , what is the security the people and the country expect from a Govt. which cannot stop the continued air raids of the LTTE ,although the Defence Secretary immediately after each LTTE air attack gives a loud solemn assurance to the people that he will ensure it does not occur again.

Yesterday night, ( 28th Oct) too, LTTE launched another bombing raid on Mannar military camp and Colombo Kelanitissa power station . According to Govt. sources one soldier died in Mannar and Kelanitissa cooling system was damaged.

While the whole world splashed the news of the attack immediately, Sri Lankans were made known by the State media only after several hours. This illustrates that the Govt. is a total fiasco in every Dept. of governance : National security, economy , foreign relations, education , health and administration.

The Govt. which boasts of its MiG jets , its sophisticated Defence systems , and ridiculed the earlier LTTE attacks as being launched with unworthy ‘kurumbetti’ planes
has still not found a way to stop their air raids with ‘kurumbetti’ planes. All what the Govt. could do to counter the raid yesterday was to waste the bullets by spraying them for hours aimlessly into the sky . Now, the Defence Secretary says, he is still searching for those planes. He is not finding solutions , instead providing idle amusement with a profusion of lies, he lamented.

Are the people there only to pay for the sins of the Govt. and meet its wasteful expenses ? Don’t they have a right to know of the true picture on the true security situation in the country ? , he asked. It is talking of capturing Kilinochchi shortly, whereas it cannot stop the LTTE intruding into Colombo and conducting air raids. Even Basil’s tour to India in connection with the war crisis is hushed up .

The whole object of this Govt. is to continue in power by suppression of the truth and oppression of the people and the Free media, he concluded.
