Govt’s war publicity to go for early polls: Mangala

(November 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The government is waging a publicity war by depicting every junction captured by the army as a victory, says SLFP (M) convenor Mangala Samaraweera during a media briefing this morning (Nov. 20). He also charged that there are 79 Rajapaksa relatives as advisors, MPs, ministers, diplomats, chairmen etc. while the defence budget has increased by 70%. While showing that the govt. was wining the war, plans are afoot to dissolve Parliament by December 9 and go for an early poll and a ceasefire as agreed with India, Samaraweera says.

“We are ready with the UNP, SLMC and others for that,” he said while challenging the Govt. to an open debate on the Mahinda Chintanaya.
