(February 12, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The JVP today accused the government for trying to use the achievements of the military to win the upcoming provincial elections.General Secretary of the party Tilvin Silva told a news conference in Colombo that the people should not be deceived as the government was attempting to take full credit of the military achievements for their political benefit.

He said that the UPFA also has fielded a series of candidates who have been accused of murder, rape and drug related offences and therefore the people should be careful in selecting their future representatives.

He said therefore the voters in the North West and Central provinces who would be voting on Saturday should also be aware that the government has been misusing state resources for the election campaign including government officials.

Mr. Silva said that the government was also planning to further misuse state resources on the day of elections.
