Letter to the Editor

(February 22, Washington, Sri Lanka Guardian) I must congratulate the Sri Lanka Guardian for having published on line the lamentations of “Jayan Devendra” which is a fictitious name under which a timid person without character has had a hysterical outburst. I am taking this opportunity with the consent of Dr.T.C.Rajaratnam who is presently undergoing medical treatment after an assassination attempt on his life a few hours ago.

I read out the criticism levelled against him and quick as he is to respond , he gave me the salient points to retaliate and informed me to inform the C.I.D(Criminal Investigation Department and the T.I.D(Terrorist Investigation Department to alert them as well) about the conspiracy to make derogatory remarks and to investigate further into this matter. We would have been happier to greet a critic with the real identity. The name coined is a mischievous attempt to insinuate that it was written by an obvious name. Suffice it to mention, that the attempt was foiled by the subsequent paras as cited by us as follows:

1.“Sri Lanka Guardian has earned a good name as a media of great integrity and a forum of various issues especially on Sri Lanka. The LTTE sees it as pro-government and the government sees it as pro-LTTE and many others recognize it as a vehicle to express their views freely. This web-media appears to have the services of a vast array of writers and even professionals who freely express their views not just on Sri Lankan politics alone. It is welcome. Recently I met one of your regular writers in Canada who said that was a privilege for him to be one of Sri Lanka Guardian writers and appreciated the space given to him to focus on issues that are crucial to the good health of public opinion……. In its technical presentation too Sri Lanka Guardian gives an excellent system of coverage and this is very much appreciated. I have on many occasions congratulated the editor for his communicating skill and craftsmanship. ” This self praise reveals that the person hiding behind the mask of “Jayan Devendra” is a regular columnist and a special writer” who has been in the habit of writing under various names .

2. The writer goes on to state:

“However, sometimes, there is cause to wonder whether Sri Lanka Guardian is advocating narrower interests or the personal meanderings of some people. As an example, there were four features from Dr T C Rajaratnam in recent days in each of which much effort was made to state his qualifications and the jobs he held under two ministers and other details.”

The personal attack on Dr.T.C.Rajaratnam is a pathetic attempt due to jealousy and insecurity. Dr.Rajaratnam is far above such tactics and viewed the writer as a sick person who requires help. It is unfortunate that this psychopath has used the Sri Lanka Guardian as a Forum to satisfy his sadistic pleasures.

Dr.Rajaratnam has written about various politicians all over the world. He takes only the effective and good side of an individual and writes about that unlike the lamentations of a psychopath. Even World Leaders and Cabinet Ministers have personally acknowledged him. A few weeks ago , there was a fierce battle between Jayadevan and his network of cronies against Douglas Devananda. Dr.Rajaratnam exposed the link between Thavarajah and Jayadevan. Whilst the attack went on Thavarajah maintained very close ties with the Minister whilst Jayadevan network were tongue twisting and playing with the reputation of the Minister. Dr.Rajaratnam defended Douglas Devananda because he was a Cabinet Minister and part of the coalition Government.

Dr.Rajaratnam is a public figure , a humble man whose life is no secret. He is outspoken. His article on Jesus Christ was a personal experience which he wanted to share. The Title itself stated “TESTIMONY”. Dr.Rajaratnam always writes under his name and he uses his family name unlike some who take various identities to cover their heritage for reasons best known to them.

We must move beyond personal animosities and work for Peace and Prosperity in the country and we owe allegiance to the President and the duly elected Leader of the country.
