Coldblooded Tigers desperate for Tamil casualties in the thousands

Pro-LTTE Tamil Diaspora aids and abets Prabhakaran and his murderous band in their genocidal intentions against the Tamils.

By Ranjan Jayakody reporting from Vavuniya

(March 10, Jaffna, Sri Lanka Guardian) The shocking element in the final drama of Tiger terrorism that plagued the country for three decades and a half is the surreptitiously executed project “March of the Human Shield” involving persuaded and or forced march of the people of Wanni towards Mullaitivu. When the troops entered the region all that they encountered were ghost townships and farm villages and empty bunkers of varying depths.

Operation “March of the Human Shield” was planned well ahead and involved in this were priests and nuns who instructed their parishioners to take the highways, farm roads and jungle paths to the instructed destinations obviously determined by the LTTE. Among the priests involved were the Rev Father James Pathinathar of the Roman Catholic Church and the Rev Sellathurai Jeyanesan of the American Ceylon Mission Church. People from such places as Murugandy and Paranthan who could have escaped to Vavuniya were ordered to go great distances towards the eastern coast.

How is that the NGOs, the ICRC and other organizations working in this region were not aware of this march. This was not the first time such a march was undertaken. The LTTE has used civilians as human shield and have been force-uprooting people from their traditional habitats all the time.

If those who have been conducting demonstrations in support of the LTTE, some of them attracting large numbers in countries like Canada and the United Kingdom would examine the very charges they have been making against the Sri Lankan government and its armed forces, the truth would stare in their faces as the Tigers being the perpetrators, not the state or its armed forces.

Right along over the years, the LTTE has involved itself in a manner to cause maximum damage to the Tamil civilian population. Prabhakaran and his murderous terrorists wanted to give the impression to the whole world that the Colombo government was using the forces to be engaged in a genocidal activity against the Tamils. The Wanni march had an additional dimension.

In having civilian numbers in thousands around them, they were sure of forcing a ceasefire on account of them being at great risks... They also hoped that thousands of civilians would perish and create revulsion and repugnance against the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and the government.

Since it is obvious that there is a force outside Sri Lanka that is directing all LTTE affairs, even the many demonstrations that were organized in countries where Tamils live in large numbers, it can be construed that these demonstrations were a part of the plans to seek a ceasefire. In none of these demonstrations was a demand to let the hostage-held civilians to go free was made.

Even the hostages being starved to sheer desperation must have been part of the plan. This is possibly why the cargo ship was prevented from landing urgently needed foodstuffs intended for the hostages by the surrounded Tigers firing at the vessel.

A shocking observation on the events of the last few days is that a highly literate community with its members in key and important positions in the fields of education, law, medicine, accountancy etc has allowed itself to be exploited by a murderous band of terrorists. Worse still, many Diaspora parents expose their children to terrorism of the Prabhakaran brand as deserving to be recognized as a spirit of liberation from oppression.

Will it therefore be wrong to surmise that the pro-Tamil Diaspora by supporting the LTTE so virulently are indeed aiding and abetting Prabhakaran and his murderous band in his genocidal intentions against the Tamils in Sri Lanka?
