CM asks PM: 'save Tamil race in Sri Lanka'

(April 08, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, a key ally of the UPA, today asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to 'save the Tamil race' in Sri Lanka and ensure an immediate ceasefire to the hostilities in the embattled north of the island.

Save the total Tamil race in Sri Lanka from being completely wiped out - ensure ceasefire and initiate peace talks immediately,' he said in a telegram, a copy of which was released to the media here tonight.

The telegram was also addressed to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

Karunanidhi's latest plea comes amidst reports that the Sri Lankan defence forces were hunting for LTTE's elusive top leadership after over-running almost all the rebel bases in fierce clashes near the 'no-fire zone' in Mullaittivu.

Later a DMK announcement said Karunanidhi would lead a 'Tamils rally' in Chennai on April 9 to press the Sri Lankan Government to stop the war.

The announcement titled 'Sri Lankan Government! Stop war' asked all to participate in the rally irrespective of political affiliations.

What war are we talking about.Kasmir.It is about time Tamil Nadu opened its doors so that all tamils living in camps, cities and villages throughout the world can return to the homeland of their achestors. The next step is to make it an independent country and I am sure whole of India and the rest of the world will support its cause. If Ghandism does not work they can take up arms and create mayhem so that Indian troops will be asked to quell the riots. The world will ask for a ceasefire from The indian govt. And on and on it will go on.In the meantime the people of Sri lanks will enjoy the peace and prosperity that comes with when violent people dont live among them.

Mr Karunanidhi should first attend to the needs of his
constituents in Tamil Nadu, especially the needs of the
Dalits (Untouchables). For a start, if modern toilets are built to service all human dwellings (mandatory), it will release Tamil Nadu's some 5 Million Tamil Dalits from the task of having to clean fecal matter from roadsides and floors of buildings.
If Tamil Nadu gets its Human Rights act together, Lanka will cease to suffer on account of TN's Dalit issues.
