Britain vows to back Lanka war crimes probe

(May 14, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Britain has raised the prospect of a war crime probe into what is happening in Sri Lanka. Claiming that the humanitarian situation in Sri Lanka was "truly shocking," junior foreign minister Bill Rammell said, “We would support an early investigation into all incidents that may have resulted in civilian casualties ... to determine whether war crimes have been committed."

"The UN's estimate, if it is accurate, of over 6,500 civilian deaths since January is truly shocking and appalling," he added, in a parliamentary debate on the military standoff in Sri Lanka. Amnesty International called Wednesday for a probe into "the mounting evidence of serious violations of international law," and the UN's human rights chief Navi Pillay has already said both sides may be guilty of war crimes. - AFP

This should start immediately after war crimes investigation on US and UK for their crimes in Iraq and Afganistan, as those happend much before the Sri Lankan conflict.

I wonder how much KP paid these corrup bastards. Sri Lankans are behind this war and the leadership carried out Sri Lankan wishes to safegurd the territorial intergrity of Sri Lanka. All Sri Lankans are ready to face the investigations. Bring it on poms.

Good let's put the bloody btitish on trial first. They feel insulted because we did not obey there commands. I think the Sri lankan Goverment and her people should sue this bloody British goverment for all the damage they did when they raped this country and sucked the blood of its people. But again we cannot get blood out of a stone. The British are broke and has mortgaged the next ten generations so lets welcome them into the 3rd world.Pity the old fools.
