(June 04,Colombo, Sri Lanka Guadian) Following the end of the armed conflict in Sri Lanka, Japan has decided to send its special envoy Yasushi Akashi to the island.
Akashi will tour both Sri Lanka and India between June 8 and 12. He is expected to meet with government officials and representatives of the ruling and Opposition parties.
Akashi is also expected to discuss resettlement of internally displaced persons as well as political progress for national reconciliation.
During his visit to India, Akashi is expected to exchange views with government officials on the situation in Sri Lanka. -Sri Lanka Guardian
