(June 18,Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian)The accepting of nominations for the Jaffna and Vavuniya local government elections commenced today.The elections are being held for eh Jaffna Municipal Council and the Vavuniya Urban Council.
Additional Elections Commissioner, W. P. Sumanasiri said the accepting of nominations will conclude at noon on June 25.
However, the accepting of deposits from independent groups contesting the polls will conclude at noon on June 14.
Meanwhile, the accepting of nominations for the Uva Provincial Council election commenced yesterday.
The Elections Secretariat said that the accepting of nominations would conclude at noon on June 24.
