(August 05, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Oscar winner Dr. Rahuman , the Indian music legend refused to attend functions to felicitate him in Tamil Nadu pointing to the abysmal sufferings of the Tamils in Sri Lanka. Overcome by emotion, he stated he could not accept invitations for functions when considering the plight of the Sri Lankan Tamils. A solution should be found soon, he added.
Rahman, known for his trade marks of simplicity and charm was awarded an honorary Doctorate by Anna University in Tamil Nadu.
It is a pity that the Sri Lankan Government had not been able to attend to the woes of the displaced Tamils soon enough despite international pressures. -Sri Lanka Guardian
