Our country has the strength to rise-up : President

(October 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Mahinda Rajapakse says that he is committed to rebuilding the country without bowing down to any conditions. The President pointed out that the country had the strength to rise up on the merits of the economy irrespective of whether we received aid or not.

Addressing a meeting of the Land Advisory Council, the President also said that at present there was a great demand for Sri Lankan products in the international market.

Speaking further the President noted that it had now become possible to give complete ownership of the country to the people as opposed to a small section of land.

President went on to say that the deed through which the motherland had been written over to the LTTE had now been cancelled.

In his address the President also said that speedy development had now been focused on for the village.

Accordingly, he said that a systematic development programme that would enable the country to overcome challenges before it had been launched. Moreover, the President observed that through the 'Api Wawamu Rata Nagamu' programme the local economy had been strengthened.

He urged the people to be committed to grow whatever they could on every inch of land so that they could become self sufficient.
