Govt. disappointed over UN Secy Gen. decision

(July 09, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon had acted in ‘precipitant haste’ by asking UN’s Country Representative Neil Buhne to arrive to New York for consultations, External Affairs Minister G.L.Peiris told Parliament today.

Prof. Peiris also denied media reports’ stating that UNDP office has been closed down and that the country representative has been re-called.

“Only a regional office has been closed down and Mr. Buhne was called only for consultations. The government was in constant consultation with Mr. Buhne and was working towards resolving the issue”, he said.

He said that the government regrets moon’s decision to call the country representative for consultations.
