Pro-govt. journalist threatened, assaulted - Govt.

(September 11, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A pro-government journalist has been threatened and assaulted for writing in support of the 18th amendment to the constitution, news.lk reports.

T.C. Rajaratnam, editor of www.srilankanpatriot.com, has complained to police that he had received threatening phone calls after an article by him had appeared in Ceylon Daily News two days ago.

A group of five men had confronted and attacked him in Colombo, as he was driving his sick daughter back from hospital, according to the complaint.

Mr. Rajaratnam says he has been a member of the SLFP for the past 30 years and was a party candidate at elections.
