Tamils worry LTTE suspects gassed by the security forces

(October 04, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) There is talk in the section of the Tamil Diaspora that suspected LTTE men and women arrested by the security forces recently in the round up operations and with the help of the paramilitary groups are taken to Colombo and put in toxic gas chambers to eliminate any traces of their identity on deaths.

The individuals arrested in the recent operations having strong links to the LTTE are said to be treated in this way. According to concerns expressed by the arrested victim’s relatives, the Defence establishment is taking this new approach to prevent any adverse publicity of news leaking of tortured victims through the section of the media that had taken sanctuary in other countries which has caused problems for the government in the international level.

Family members who lost their dear ones are unable to make any further inquiries about the fate of the arrested persons and they even fear to complain to the police according to sources.
