Big thamasha at the Sri Lanka High Commission

(December 03, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Mahinda Percy Rajapakse is holding a grand reception at the Sri Lanka High Commission today (2/12 evening) to substitute the aborted Oxford Union speech following heavy campaign by the Tamil Diaspora.

Sri Lanka High Commission has only invited selected members of the Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim communities for the grand reception.

At the time of reporting three Tamil members, two Muslim invitees and about thirty five Sinhalese are gathered at the High Commission. Those in attendance are said to be traditional anti-Tamil Sinhalese activists. Moderate Sinhalese who stood for the elimination of the LTTE and a peaceful political resolution to the conflict have not been invited according to a High Commission source.
