Easter message of the JVP

by Somawansa Amarasinghe

(April 23, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Today is Easter Sunday, piously commemorated by Christian devotees all over the world. Christians believe that Jesus Christ, who was crucified on Good Friday, ascended to heaven on Easter Sunday.

He, who struggled for justice, was hated and avenged by wicked and fraudulent priests. Despite crucifying Him, those vile, fraudulent priests could not extinguish His teaching and practice. The ascension is a symbol that His ‘journey’ could not be stopped.

Today we live in an age where sacrifices are needed for justice and fair play just as Jesus Christ did in His time. Such sacrifice is the real tribute to Jesus Christ.

The JVP calls upon all Christian devotees and the people in this country to rally to create a just society with genuine human values, a society that Jesus Christ strived to achieve.
